Since we are on the subject of celebrates and John Denver. I recall the rumor in the early 70's about Glenn Campbell getting baptized at our International convention.

The March 15, 2002 study article of the Watchtower says about submitting yourself to the spirit appointed authority of the congregation elders. It says in paragraph 11,
Our Leader is perfect. The men he has given as gifts are not. So they may err at times. Yet, it is vital that we remain loyal to Christ's arrangement. In fact, living up to our dedication and baptism means that we recognize the legitimacy of spirit-appointed authority in the congregation and willingly submit to it. Our Baptism 'in the name of the holy spirit' is a public declaration that we recognize the holy spirit and acknowledge the role it plays in Jehovah's purposes. (Matthew 28:19) Such a baptism implies that we cooperate with the spirit and do nothing to hinder its operation among Christ's followers. Since the holy spirit plays a vital role in the recommendation and appointment of elders, can we really be faithful to our dedication if we fail to cooperate with the elder arrangement in the congregation?
Than paragraph 13 asks the question:
Who would not want to benefit from the grand arrangement of oversight that our Leader has instituted in the Christian congregation?
I like how it contradicts its self by admitting that the body elders are not perfect but appointed by Holy Spirit. How can this be I ask? If it is God's Holy Spirit that appoints them, how can it make a mistake in the first place? Also notice the quote from paragraph 13. The typical Jdub speak of making the reader feel guilty by implying that any one that doesn't go along with this "grand arrangement" is not normal.

we had our second co talk yesterday, the topic of which was loyalty, thinly veiled as to one another, but dripping with threats toward those who might go against the society.. after the usual drivel about the society being god's organisation, and appreciating their junk food (as an aside, has anyone actually vomitted up any of this "food"??
just wondering...), i was rudely dragged out of my slumber by the co's harsh declaration that we should shun all those who slipped away from the thruth, as they inactivity is a bad influence.
he went on to heap the blame on them, "if they feel this way, then they should expect their due", "they bring shunning onto themselves" etc.... has it always been this way?
It's getting to be One Nasty Group of Cultists, closing the gates on the insiders tighter and tighter.
That’s what this is all about, not trying to bring those back into the Borg but keeping those ones from straying away from the cult.

leading to realisation from the weak JW that they did in fact need the brotherhood and Society.
What F***** arrogance....
I hope the Borg die a fast and speedy death.

god grant me the serenity to accept the things i can not change --- courage to change that i can and the wisdom to know the difference....thought for the day is: _progress not perfection_ !!!

Lord, make me an instrument of Your Peace. Where there is hadred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek To be consoled as to console; To be understood as to understand; To be loved as to love; For it is in giving we recieve; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; And it is in dying that we are born to eternal light.

That was 33 years ago. How many more innocent people will be hoodwinked and hurt by this lying organization?
This is so true and I was one of those. I want to make sure that I can do all I can so they don't do it to anyone else again. I think that the WT is getting a little afraid of the declining membership so they revert back to the tactics they know best, threats and intimidation.

in times past, the society's policy was that a witness mate could divorce their mate who demanded or had them perform oral sex and persisted with their views.. later the policy was revised to mean a witness mate could divorce their mate who had oral sex with someone.....outside of the marriage.. are there any here who had this experience with the old arrangement, or do you know of any cases in which this happened?.
my reason for asking is, i wonder how many lives were ruined by another wt blunder.
My cousin’s wife 25 years ago died quit young and his wife went on and married some Iraqi guy and the only reason why he married her was to get his US citizenship. After which he got her pregnant and dumped her. His family didn't want him to stay married to a low life, infidel. Never met the guy but he sounds like a real peace of garbage.

How can I become a baptised Muslim in good standing?
Sure but there is one catch, you have to strap a bomb to your back and blow yourself and as many as those infidels up with you.

If the couples remained in the same congregation, it could be an indefinate period of time..IF EVER....that either brother or sister, could have a position (pioneer, servant, elder, etc.)
Don't count on it. I knew one brother that was an elder about 20 years ago. He would give such wonderful talks at the District conventions and was even on the Blood committee. Well he ended up taking off with a younger sister and getting DF'd. What happened to him? He was reinstated a year after and is now back giving those wonderful talks at the District conventions....
